Hi, I’m Claire, and welcome to Desire Meals.
I’m so glad you’re here. Desire Meals started as my little corner of the internet to share simple, flavorful recipes that make everyday cooking something to actually enjoy. Over time, it’s grown into a true family project. Now I’m lucky to have help from two of my favorite people, Noah and Sophie, who bring their own creativity and energy into the kitchen.
When I first began, I wasn’t exactly a natural cook. For most of my twenties and part of my thirties, my meals revolved around takeout, frozen dinners, and one easy pasta recipe I could make with my eyes closed. Cooking felt intimidating, like something meant for people with more skill or patience than I had.
Eventually, I realized I wanted more than convenience. I wanted meals that felt good, nourishing, and made with care. The first time I roasted a chicken that came out golden and juicy, I was amazed. It wasn’t perfect, but it gave me confidence to keep going. I started to see that cooking isn’t about perfection, it’s about connection, learning, and enjoying the process.
Now, at 40, I live just outside Portland, Oregon with my partner, our two kids, and our dog who never misses a chance to sit under the kitchen table. Cooking has become my happy place, not because I know everything, but because it’s where I learned to trust myself, laugh at the mistakes, and celebrate the small wins.
Noah loves experimenting with flavors and finding new combinations that surprise us in the best way. Sophie is our resident baker, always testing cookies, muffins, and cakes until they’re just right. Together, we test, photograph, and share the recipes you see here.
Desire Meals is our shared space to show that cooking can be simple, satisfying, and enjoyable. Every recipe is made to help you feel confident in the kitchen, no matter your skill level.
So whether you’re figuring out how to make dinner after a busy day or baking something sweet on the weekend, we’re right here with you. Let’s cook, learn, and make something delicious together.
Welcome to our kitchen. You’ve got this.
