Soft and buttery Christmas Sugar Cookies topped with creamy frosting and colorful sprinkles, perfect for holiday celebrations.

- 270 g (2¼ cups) all-purpose flour
- 4 g (1 tsp) baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 170 g (1½ sticks / ¾ cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
- 54 g (⅓ cup) Christmas jimmies sprinkles
- 283 g (1¼ bricks / 10 oz) full-fat cream cheese, softened
- 184 g (13 Tbsp) salted butter, softened
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp salt
- 150 g (1¼ cups) powdered sugar, sifted
- 80 ml (⅓ cup) heavy cream, very cold
- 24 g (2 Tbsp) Christmas sprinkles (jimmies, nonpareils, trees, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line 2-3 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In a stand mixer, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar on medium speed until fluffy.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients in two parts, mixing gently.
- Fold in the Christmas jimmies sprinkles.
- Using a cookie scoop, portion out and roll the dough into balls; place on prepared sheets.
- Slightly flatten each dough ball to about ½-inch thick.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set but tops are soft.
- Remove from oven, and gently shape cookies into circles before cooling on racks.
- For the frosting, beat cream cheese and salted butter until smooth. Add vanilla and salt, then gradually mix in powdered sugar and cold heavy cream until fluffy.
- Pipe or spread frosting on cooled cookies and top with more festive sprinkles.
