Description

Ingredients

  • 3 small oranges or tangelos (about 1820 slices)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  1. Slice the oranges into ¼-inch rounds.
  2. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Heat on medium-high until boiling, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add orange slices in a single layer and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes, turning occasionally.
  5. Remove slices and place on a wire rack to cool for 24 to 48 hours until tacky but set.
  6. Optionally roll in sugar or dip in chocolate for extra sweetness.

Notes

Store candies at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week, or refrigerate for up to two weeks.
