Description

Simple chocolate cookies with a rich cocoa flavor and a soft middle.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream butter and sugars together in a bowl.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  4. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  5. Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture, then add chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop dough onto baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

Notes

Chill the dough for 20-30 minutes if it’s too soft for scooping. Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
