Description

A comforting French toast casserole that combines classic breakfast flavors in a creamy, custardy dish perfect for brunch or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices of bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are well-soaked.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight.
  6. Remove from the fridge and let sit for a few minutes to reach room temperature.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until golden and set.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with fresh berries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup.

Notes

For best results, use stale bread and allow it to soak overnight for optimal flavor absorption.
