Description

A no-fuss recipe for crispy fried green beans that are perfect for game nights and cookouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour or cornstarch
  • 1 cup cold club soda or seltzer
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Keep a mixing bowl in the fridge and prepare a few ice cubes.
  2. Whisk together the flour or cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika in the chilled bowl.
  3. Slowly add cold club soda or seltzer until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Pat the green beans dry with a paper towel to ensure the batter sticks.
  5. Heat oil in a heavy pot or skillet to 350-360°F.
  6. Dip the green beans in the batter, letting the excess drip off.
  7. Fry in small batches for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove and drain on a wire rack, salting immediately while hot.
  9. Serve with your favorite dips.

Notes

For extra crispiness, use a double coating of flour before battering the beans.
