Description

Soft, chewy cookies made with a classic sweet base and chocolate decoration, perfect for busy bakers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or M&M’s (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually beat this into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips or M&M’s.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are lightly browned.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, measure flour by spoon-and-level. Use room-temperature butter and eggs for even blending. If dough is too soft, chill for 10-20 minutes before baking.
