- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips or M&M’s (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually beat this into the creamed mixture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips or M&M’s.
- Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are lightly browned.
- Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, measure flour by spoon-and-level. Use room-temperature butter and eggs for even blending. If dough is too soft, chill for 10-20 minutes before baking.
