Description

A wonderfully easy yet flavorful roast turkey, perfect for holidays and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • Whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
  • Unsalted butter
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, rosemary, sage)
  • Garlic
  • Lemon
  • Onion
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Instructions

  1. Thaw the turkey completely and remove giblets from the cavity.
  2. Pat the turkey dry and let it sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  4. Mix softened unsalted butter with chopped fresh herbs, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Rub the herb butter under the skin and all over the turkey.
  6. Stuff the cavity with lemon halves, onion wedges, and remaining herbs.
  7. Place the turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan.
  8. Roast uncovered, basting every 45 minutes until done.
  9. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F for the last 30 minutes.
  10. Once the internal temperature reaches 165°F, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before carving.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can experiment with different herbs and citrus in the stuffing. Serve with seasonal sides for a complete meal.
