Description
These small, soft heart-shaped sandwiches are perfect for tea time, baby showers, or simple snacks. Easy to prepare and customizable with various fillings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of bread (white or whole grain)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup smoked salmon or ham (optional)
- Fresh dill or chives for garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Keep the cream cheese soft for easy spreading; stir in a teaspoon of milk if it’s too thick.
- Cut the bread with a small heart cutter and trim crusts if desired.
- Layer thin cucumber slices on each piece to prevent sogginess.
- If using smoked salmon or ham, pat it dry first.
- Press the sandwiches lightly to hold their shape and chill briefly before serving.
- Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each slice of bread.
- Add cucumber and the optional smoked salmon or ham, then stack two slices and press edges slightly.
- Cut with a heart cutter and arrange on a plate.
- Serve on a flat plate or tiered tray, garnished with dill or chives.
- Store in an airtight container with a paper towel in the fridge for up to one day.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, skip the smoked salmon or ham and replace with thin tomato or roasted pepper. Keep the bread and fillings separate if preparing ahead.
