Description

Deliciously soft and chewy red velvet cookies topped with a melting Hershey’s chocolate kiss, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 7 tbsp salted or unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring gel
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt, then gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just incorporated.
  5. Scoop out 18 equal portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each in red sanding sugar.
  6. Place the cookie balls on the prepared baking sheet with space in between.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes, until edges are golden.
  8. Press a Hershey chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days, or freeze for up to three months.
