Description

A simple and quick version of classic doner kebab, featuring spiced meat served in warm flatbread with fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g lamb or chicken, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread or flatbreads
  • Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, onions)
  • Yogurt or tahini sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine the meat, grated onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat the grill or stove to medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the marinated meat until fully cooked and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes per side.
  4. Warm the pita bread or flatbreads on the grill.
  5. Assemble the kebab by placing the cooked meat and fresh vegetables inside the bread.
  6. Drizzle with yogurt or tahini sauce.
  7. Roll up and serve immediately.

Notes

Marinating for an hour lets the flavors soak into the meat. Cook on medium-high for a nice char without drying the meat. Serve right away for best texture.
