Description
A simple and quick version of classic doner kebab, featuring spiced meat served in warm flatbread with fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500g lamb or chicken, thinly sliced
- 1 large onion, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread or flatbreads
- Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, onions)
- Yogurt or tahini sauce
Instructions
- Combine the meat, grated onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the grill or stove to medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated meat until fully cooked and slightly charred, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- Warm the pita bread or flatbreads on the grill.
- Assemble the kebab by placing the cooked meat and fresh vegetables inside the bread.
- Drizzle with yogurt or tahini sauce.
- Roll up and serve immediately.
Notes
Marinating for an hour lets the flavors soak into the meat. Cook on medium-high for a nice char without drying the meat. Serve right away for best texture.
