Description

A quick and practical pastry filled with fruit preserves, perfect for breakfast or a small treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves (e.g., strawberry, raspberry, or apple)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix the flour and cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Gradually add cold water until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
  5. Place a spoonful of fruit preserves on one half of each rectangle, then fold and seal the edges.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl for the glaze.
  8. Drizzle over warm strudels before serving.

Notes

Keep the butter cold to make the crust flaky. Seal edges well to stop leaks. Bake until golden to get a crisp outside. Glaze when strudels are warm so it spreads easily.
