Description

A comforting one-dish meal featuring layered meatballs, marinara sauce, and creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well and form into meatballs.
  3. Layer the meatballs at the bottom of a baking dish.
  4. Spread a layer of marinara sauce over the meatballs.
  5. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meatballs and sauce evenly.
  6. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until heated through and the cheese is bubbly (if used).
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use warm mashed potatoes for easy spreading. Cover meatballs with sauce to avoid drying out. For extra creaminess, stir in milk or butter into the mashed potatoes.
