Description
Delicious crinkle-top cookies with a nutty flavor and a soft center, perfect for bake sales or quick desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown.
- Combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring to combine.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped nuts.
- Roll the dough into balls and coat each ball in powdered sugar.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are crinkled.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Cool browned butter enough so it won’t cook the egg. Mix dry ingredients in gradually to avoid overworking the dough. Check the edges at 10 minutes; if edges are set and centers look slightly soft, the cookies are done.
