Description

A quick and easy rolled French toast recipe that transforms simple sandwich bread into warm, sweet rolls.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of crustless sandwich bread
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 knob of butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 100 grams sugar

Instructions

  1. Flatten each slice of bread using a rolling pin.
  2. Roll each slice of bread tightly.
  3. In a bowl, beat together the egg, milk, cream, and vanilla.
  4. Dip each rolled slice in the egg mixture, soaking slightly.
  5. In a hot pan, add the knob of butter and cook the rolls on each side until lightly golden.
  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  7. Quickly toss the hot rolls in the cinnamon-sugar mix before serving.

Notes

Roll the bread tightly to keep its shape while cooking. Do not soak too long in the egg mix to avoid falling apart. Use medium heat for even cooking.
