Description

A light dessert that combines shortcake components in a sushi-like roll, filled with sweet strawberries and creamy whipped cream.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup shortcake or sponge cake, crumbled
  • 4 large sushi rice sheets (nori)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)


Instructions

  1. Clean and slice the strawberries, then combine them with sugar in a bowl and let sit for 15 minutes to create a syrup.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. On a sushi rice sheet, spread a thin layer of whipped cream, then add crumbled shortcake and a layer of strawberries.
  4. Roll the sushi tightly and slice into pieces.
  5. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Use fully cooled cake when crumbling to avoid melting the cream. Chill the roll before slicing for cleaner pieces.
