Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf brioche (or challah or French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- Spread the bread cubes evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to soak them.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the bread mixture.
- Let the casserole sit for about 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak.
- Bake uncovered for about 40 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with maple syrup or fresh berries.
Notes
Allow the casserole to sit overnight in the fridge for a make-ahead option. Serve with additional toppings such as powdered sugar or whipped cream.
