Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small carrot, diced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (120ml) beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Fit one crust into a 9-inch pie plate, allowing the edges to overhang.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and diced carrot, cooking until the onions are translucent.
- Sprinkle in the flour and stir, then slowly pour in the beef broth and add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing flavors to combine.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then pour it into the prepared pie crust.
- Cover with the second pie crust, crimp edges, and cut slits on top to vent.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown, covering the edges with foil if browning too quickly.
