Description

Deliciously soft and chewy vanilla sugar cookies, perfect for holidays and casual snacking.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.
  3. Cream together the butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until smooth in a large bowl.
  4. Beat in the egg and extracts.
  5. Blend in the dry ingredients gradually.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and roll in the remaining sugar.
  7. Place onto ungreased cookie sheets about 1 1/2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  9. Cool on wire racks to finish.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix the dough. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
